The Powell River Digital Film School (PRDFS) is a 20-high school credit Film Program that offers a comprehensive, hands-on experience of the world of Filmmaking. There has never been a more exciting time to gain entry into this thriving field. With the substantial growth of the independent film industry, support for new filmmakers and the increase in specialty channels and other output media, there are countless opportunities in this demanding field.
The Powell River Digital Film School is a Second-Semester (February to June), grade-12, elective Film Program held in Powell River Ocean View Education Centre. The Course can be attended at no charge by anyone between the ages of 16 and 19 and is worth 20 high school credits as well as dual credit with Emily Carr University. This means that when you register with the Film School, you are also automatically enrolled for 3 credits with the Emily Carr University Film program. If you decide to continue with Film Studies after you have already gained 3 university credits and your tuition is reduced.
Upon graduation from PRDFS, if you decide to enrol in the Film Program at Capilano University in North Vancouver, you will be fast-tracked into your first year. The PRDFS will make your entrance there smooth and seamless. With a successful completion of the PRDFS you also are accepted into Emily Carr U without the need of a further portfolio.
